8 Sac State Alums named Teachers of the Year

Exciting news for the Sacramento State College of Education – eight of the 15 Teachers of the Year chosen by Sacramento-area school districts for 2018 are alumni of the college’s teacher preparation programs.

One of the honorees, Rebecca Siegert McGill, was selected as the Sacramento County Teacher of the Year, and nominated for state-level recognition. Ultimately, California nominates one teacher to the National Teacher of the Year program sponsored by the Council of Chief State School Officers.

"The College of Education faculty, staff, and administration are very proud of these graduates and their accomplishments," said Dean Alexander "Sasha" Sidorkin. "We know they, and many alumni like them, make a difference every day in the lives of children in our region."
