From a family of Fourteen, Mexican American, and from parents who were originally from Morelia Michoacan and El Paso, Texas, I myself was raised in Santa Barbara, California. There I attended a Community College, - AA Degree from Santa Barbara City College; I then earned a Bachelors Degree in English from California State University, Sacramento, followed by a Masters of Science Degree in Counselor Education with an emphasis in School Counseling, also from California State University, Sacramento. I had a previous doctoral attempt at UC Davis, finishing coursework but not qualifying exams or dissertation, before timing out. Professionally, I have now worked at California State University for almost 29 years: first five years an EOP Counselor; and then an Admissions Counselor in the Admissions and Outreach Office; and more recently as the Associate Director of Admissions.

My current doctoral emphasis will be to look at issues of access for Latino Students and assess how the original Master plan conforms or needs revision for the meeting the current academic and educational needs of this state's largest growing population.
