Areas Research/Scholarly Activity/Community Service

Adjunct Faculty at CSUS since 2005, Francie Dillon is recognized nationally for her efforts in education and the performing arts. In 2012, she was awarded Arts Educator of the Year by the Sacramento Arts and Business Council. Her efforts in promoting language, literacy and the art of storytelling has reached thousands of elementary students regionally and families in city libraries statewide. Her early childhood language and literacy program received national attention, reaching 5,000 young children and parents annually. In 2010, Francie, in cooperation with CSUS Academic Technology and Creative Services, and El Dorado County First 5, wrote, performed and produced a How to Read Aloud DVD that was distributed to home day care sites and educators. Making course material more tangible and less abstract, Francie draws on practical and classroom experience for her Literature for Children’s course. Francie received her BA from San Francisco State University and currently is pursuing her MA in the Behavioral Science Master’s Program at California State University, Sacramento.
