Senior Design Showcase

The Showcase

The Fall 2022 Senior Design Showcase will take place on Dec 9th, 2022.

The Senior Design Showcase takes place every semester, and is an event where graduating seniors in Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Construction Management, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering present the highlights of their senior design projects.

All students work collaboratively in small groups. Some student groups have worked collaboratively with individuals, private companies, or public agencies as clients, while other student groups have developed and designed their own innovative projects. Some groups will be giving project presentations, while some groups will be demonstrating products that they have designed and manufactured.

Civil Engineering - CE 191

Student teams perform completion of a conceptual civil engineering design. Students are required to adhere to realistic constraints and practicing professional engineers work with the student teams to provide mentoring.

Time: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m

Place: Santa Clara Hall Room 1217

Computer Science - CSC 190

Student teams work on the development of a software application for a public or private sector client. Team members must collaborate with each other as well as with their client to ensure the software delivered provides the value that the client expects. First semester of a two semester senior project course.

Time: 9 a.m. - Noon

Place: University Union - Green & Gold Room

Computer Science - CSC 191

Student teams work on the development of a software application for a public or private sector client. Team members must collaborate with each other as well as with their client to ensure the software delivered provides the value that the client expects. Second semester of a two semester senior project course.

Time: 9 a.m. - Noon

Place: University Union - Green & Gold Room

Construction Management - CM 129

The CM senior project involves a final presentation of a business plan for a start-up construction company. The presentation is modelled somewhat after the Shark Tank TV show.

Times and dates TBA.

Electrical & Electronic Engineering - EEE 192A

Student teams plan, research, and design aspects of energy systems, including generation, transmission, and distribution systems. Emphasis is placed on design philosophies, problem definition, research, project planning, communication skills, teamwork, development of specifications, and effective utilization of available resources.

Time: 12:30 p.m. - 2 p.m.

Place: University Union - Green & Gold Room

Electrical & Electronic Engineering - EEE 192B

Student teams plan, research, and design aspects of energy systems, including generation, transmission, and distribution systems. Emphasis is placed on design philosophies, problem definition, research, project planning, communication skills, teamwork, development of specifications, and effective utilization of available resources.

Time: 12:30 p.m. - 2 p.m.

Place: University Union - Green & Gold Room

EEE 193B / Computer Engineering - CPE 191

Student teams design and implement projects started in EEE 193A/CPE 190. The hardware is designed, tested, and redesigned if necessary. Required software is written, debugged, and incorporated into a written report. The final results of the project are presented.

Time: 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.

Place: University Union - Green & Gold Room

Mechanical Engineering - ME 190

Student teams design a product, device, or apparatus that will be fabricated in ME 191. Students work in small groups and interact with product users, vendors, and faculty advisors.

Time: 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Place: Breezeway between Riverside Hall and Santa Clara Halls

Mechanical Engineering - ME 191

Continuation of the project started in ME 190. Teams fabricate, assemble, test, evaluate, and report on their product, device, or apparatus.

Time: 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Place: Breezeway between Riverside Hall and Santa Clara Halls
