How long does it take to complete all the major courses?

On average, it takes about two years to complete if you have finished all your GE courses. Because some classes are only offered once a year, careful planning is essential. But it is NOT difficult to get enrolled in the classes you need. Prompt registration and proper planning will help you complete the program in a timely manner.

What classes do I need to graduate with a degree in FASH?

What classes should be taken first, after transferring to Sac State?

There are several classes that should be taken immediately if you have not taken the equivalent courses at any community colleges:

  • FASH 30
  • FASH 31
  • FASH 32
  • FASH 134
  • FACS 100

Are there any classes that can be taken at a community college?

Many community colleges offer courses equivalent to ECON 1A, ECON 1B, STAT 1, PHOT 11, GPHD 5, MATH 24, FASH 31, and FASH 32.

How often should I meet with a major advisor?

You should meet with an advisor at least once a semester to ensure that you are taking the right classes. It is also a good idea to meet with an advisor any time you have a special situation or problem regarding your academic planning and records.

No, the prerequisite for any class in FASH needs to be taken before the required class. A grade of C- or better is also required in that class in order to move on.

• FASH 135: FASH 134
• FASH 136: FASH 134
• FASH 139: FASH 134
• FASH 146: FASH 134
• FACS 100: FASH major and 6 FACS/FASH units
• FACS 168: Senior standing and 21 FACS/FASH units

Are all the courses offered in every semester?

No. Several major upper division courses are only offered once a year (either spring or fall). So, make sure you meet with an advisor and find out when the courses are offered.

When and how do I apply for graduation?

When you have 85 or more units, you may apply for graduation online.

How do fashion students establish an internship?

1) At least one semester before taking an internship, the student needs to tentatively determine what experience he or she would like to gain from an internship.

2) A student may find his or her own placement but must get approval authorized by the department supervisor before he or she starts the intern program.

3) The internship has to be a formal intern program established by a corporation, such
as Macy’s or Nordstrom.

4) There is an internship packet available in the department office, which includes the guidelines and paperwork.

What is required to declare this major?

A minimum 2.0 GPA.
