How to find, evaluate and adopt open textbooks and materials

Finding OER

 Sac State Resources:

follett

  • Follett Discover is the Hornet Bookstore app integrated with Canvas. Faculty can search by using the OER tab when going into Discover Course Materials. If no title exists in their collection, faculty can also find a textbook from another OER/AL$ website and add it into the Follet collection. Students will see the textbook designated for the courses in Canvas and MySacState. See instructions at this FAQ link.
  • Adopt Early = Options for Bookstore = Student Savings
Both Spring 19 and Winter 19 adoption due date is Nov 9.
  • Explore bookstore opportunities to reduce the price of textbooks through established deals with vendors such as IncludEd or Cengage Unlimited
  • Consider if there are lower cost rentals, ebooks, and course packs options available that meet Under $40
