Course Design Grants for Summer 2019

Course Compression and Online Delivery

The Center for Teaching and Learning and the College of Continuing Education are funding grants to develop fully online courses that support student success, the Graduation Initiative 2025, and will be offered in Summer 2019 and beyond. The grant program will assist faculty, who have some online experience, to develop high quality online courses with support from instructional designers and faculty mentors.

Faculty with the approval of their Academic Departments and Colleges are encouraged to apply at the link below.

Grants awarded will provide:


  • $3,500 faculty stipend in the form of overload and paid upon completion of course design milestones
  • One-on-one consultation and help from Instructional Designers and Canvas Experts
  • Access to video and interactive digital media developers and tools
  • Course templates and tools to ensure accessibility
  • Access to technology applications that assist in engaging students, reducing the cost of curricular materials, and increase the efficiencies of class preparation and grading.

Selection criteria include:

  1. Approval from department chair and deans’ office
  2. Alignment with student success needs: ex. high-demand courses where access limitations and DFW rates are negatively impacting student time-to-degree
  3. Faculty who have online and/or Canvas experience
  4. Willing and committed to working with support team to develop the course during Winter break and in Spring.


  • Application deadline:      Monday November 26 Deadline has been extended to Monday December 3
  • Award notification:          Monday December 10
  • Orientation/kick off:         Monday December 17

Summer Online 2019 Project Information


Application review has started as of December 4. We kept the application form open until January 7, 2019 to gauge the needs and interest for future similar opportunities. If you are interested in similar future programs, please email us to let us know.
