Transfer Students - I Want to Apply

  1. Be in "Good Standing" at the last college or university attended
  2. Have a minimum GPA of 2.0 if you are within our local service area*. If you are outside of our local service area* the academic characteristics of the transfer applicant pool will determine the GPA minimum
  3. Complete by the end of Spring (for Fall admission), with a grade of C- or higher:
    • A1 - Oral Communication
    • A2 - Written Communication
    • A3 - Critical Thinking
    • B4 - Math (above intermediate algebra)
    • Complete at least 30 units in CSU General Education requirements or IGETC, including the above courses.
    • Complete at least 60 transferable semester or 90 quarter units, including the above courses.
  4. Must first generation college student
  5. Historically low-income/and or educationally disadvantaged as listed below:

* Local service area : A student transferring with the majority of units from one or more of the following community colleges is considered in our local service area: American River College, Cosumnes River College, Folsom Lake College, Lake Tahoe Community College, Sacramento City College, Sierra College, San Joaquin Delta College, Solano Community College, Woodland Community College, and Yuba College.

  • Apply to Sacramento State and EOP during priority application filing period:  October 1 - November 30, 2019 for the Fall semester.
  • Apply online at  calstate.edu/apply
  • Have an unofficial copy of your college transcripts handy when you complete your application for admission. Your admissions decision will be based on self-reported information entered on the application— Accuracy is critical!
  • The EOP application is now part of the Cal State Apply Admissions Application. Once it is determined that you are eligible for EOP, questions related to EOP will automatically populate.
  • Submit Letters of Recommendation by January 31, 2019

Start the process by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) starting October 1st through March 2nd.

  1. File the FAFSA from October 1st through March 2nd, the earlier you submit it, the sooner you will have an earlier indication of how much your family is expected to contribute which will help with budgeting for the upcoming school year.
  2. For the 2019-2020 FAFSA, you (and your parents/spouse - as appropriate) will report 2017 income and tax information. You are able to automatically import your tax information into your FAFSA using the IRS retrieval tool.
