Yvonne Harris aims to lift Sac State’s research to new heights
As Sacramento’s university, it’s critical for Sac State to connect to the region through research and creative undertakings. In Yvonne Harris, the University has an experienced leader to spearhead that effort.
Harris, the new associate vice president for the Office of Research, Innovation, and Economic Development, oversees faculty research activities and has spent the beginning of her tenure meeting with the deans of Sac State’s seven academic colleges.
“I don’t transport a vision,” Harris says. “The vision depends on the culture here, what the University wants to achieve, where it wants to go. It’s clear that Sacramento State is moving in a direction that goes beyond it being just a teaching institution.”
