Coach Troy Taylor is back in town and will lead the Hornets
Troy Taylor, who has built a successful coaching career after attaining greatness as a Sacramento-area high school star player and a record-setting college quarterback at Cal, has been chosen as Sacramento State’s new head football coach.
The hiring of Taylor, who comes to Sac State from Utah of the Pac-12 Conference, was announced Monday, Dec. 17, by Athletic Director Mark Orr. Taylor, pictured at right with Orr, was introduced to the University community and the public at a news conference Tuesday, Dec. 18.
Taylor’s move to Sac State returns him to a region where he has previously excelled as a coach. From 2012 through 2015, he led the Folsom High School Bulldogs to a 58-3 record and the 2014 State Div. 1 championship.
“I am thrilled to be the new head football coach at Sacramento State,” Taylor said. “My family and I are excited to move back home and take on the challenge of building the Hornet football program into something the city can be very proud of.”
