Pre-Credential-Single Subject Matter Program

This program prepares students to teach Family and Consumer Sciences/Home Economics in middle and high schools. Study includes coursework in all areas of FACS: Nutrition and Food, Fashion Merchandising and Design, and Family Studies. As an undergraduate, students complete an internship in a middle or high school in the Sacramento area.  Graduates are prepared to enter the Single Subject Teaching Credential Program. The concentration has been reinstated to prepare students to fill a growing need for Family and Consumer Sciences/Home Economics Educators. The program has been updated to meet the new California Career Technical Education (CTE) Curriculum Standards and Home Economics Teacher Preparation Standards of Quality and Effectiveness for Subject Matter Programs.
