Sacramento State President, Robert S. Nelsen

am pleased to report that 2015-16 was our most successful year yet in raising funds to support students and programs at Sacramento State. And it’s all because of you, our donors. At my spring address to the campus community I shared some highlights from our year in philanthropy. They included:

  • Fundraising is well underway for our upcoming Science Complex. We have nearly $565,000 committed of the $20 million we need to equip the building. And we have our first major gift from alumna Ramona Anderson.
  • We have assembled a volunteer committee in support of our comprehensive campaign. In just a little over a year, they have helped us raise 20 percent of our ultimate goal.
  • On Giving Tuesday, we raised $136,349 from 300 donors in just one day. Those gifts were matched by an additional $10,000 from The University Foundation at Sacramento State
  • Individuals, corporations, and funds from the President’s Circle helped to stock the ASI Food Pantry, to replenish the Student Emergency Grant Fund to provide grants for students in need, and to offset travel expenses for students who will study abroad this year.

These are just a few of the many generous contributions that we received in the last year. On behalf of the students, faculty, staff and alumni of Sacramento State, I want to express my gratitude for your support. You are truly transforming the lives of the Hornet Family.

Robert S. Nelsen
