Susan
Susan Kischmischian is a proud Sacramento State Alum (BS Criminal Justice). During her 12+ years working as a Juvenile Correctional Counselor at Yolo County Juvenile Detention Facility, she worked with at-risk youth, as well, as, youth who were in the foster care system. Her goal was to help guide the youth through learning experiences and to provide them with tools towards becoming successful young adults, as well as, to have an objective to pursue college. In those 12+ years, working with at-risk and foster youth, Yolo County built a brand new juvenile facility, in which, she became the very first program coordinator. She created and implemented new and innovative programs. She then made her way back to her "roots," here at Sac State, to be an advocate for students and to focus on the former foster youth population in higher education. Her hobbies include physical fitness, spoiling and dressing up her two miniature Dachshunds, Mowgli and Roxy and helping her local community as much as possible. A fun fact about Susan is that her nickname at her previous job was “Squirrel.”
