"The Guardian Scholars Program has been a family away from home for me. Needless to say, I am extremely fortunate to be surrounded by peers and mentors who genuinely want to see me succeed. Through the Guardian Scholars program, I received a mentor, Julie Carroll, who has been nothing but supportive throughout my college journey. She has become one of my biggest supporters and someone that I truly admire. I do not know what I’d do without her! Had it not been for the Guardian Scholars Program, I may have never been given the opportunity to have her in my life as my mentor. The Guardian Scholars program has been able to provide me with an amazing mentor, along with scholarships, academic advice, holiday gatherings, and much more throughout my duration at Sacramento State. I am honored to be a member of such an amazing program. Thank you GS!"

"The Guardian Scholars Program helps turn a student's dream for success into a reality. It's more than giving out resources or sharing opportunities for scholarships and networking. They learn about you, your aspirations and passions and if you are willing to put in the work, they will do everything in their power to ensure your success at Sac State and beyond. Because of their hard work and amazing support system I went from a student on the brink of failure to an involved figure on campus preparing to file for graduation and apply for graduate school. This whole first generation college experience is beyond my wildest dreams and I couldn't have done it without the Guardian Scholars Program!"

"The Guardian Scholars Program has helped in many ways in my life and others by the gift of time. I can come into the office and feel welcomed at whatever state I’m at and the staff are open to problem solve, listen to concerns, look for information when needed, and the list can go on and on. The socials are important to me because it’s a break from the school environment and a chance to be among people who understand you; I feel that The Guardian Scholars Program is a big family who are welcoming, compassionate and caring, which makes me feel whole."
