About the Honors Journal

The Honors Journal is an annual publication that features works from CSUS Honors students and we hope it invites you all to present your writings, opinions, thoughts, talents, and experiences.

Our vision for the 2018-2019 edition is to explore themes of belonging across all academic disciplines. In crafting this vision, we invite you to explore the following ideas:

What does it mean to belong? What does it mean to not belong? We all belong to various groups, whether we choose them or not. In addition, we may never belong to other groups. Belonging can feel uplifting and wonderful or it can feel guilty or exclusionary. Lacking belonging can feel heartbreaking and tragic, or it can feel triumphant. Depending on the circumstances, belonging can mean so many things.

Belonging plays a major role in our lives whether we like it or not. Belonging can decide what spaces we are allowed to exist in, who we associate with, and how we experience life. What role does choice play in belonging?

Do you have work that relates these ideas? Are you inspired by these ideas? Share it with us! We will be taking submissions all semester, so keep us in mind when you create something you're especially proud of. You can always email us at honorsjournalcsus@gmail.com with these submissions or any questions.

Join us for our release party, Thursday May 2, 2019 at 5pm in the Honors Lounge!
