February 4, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. (PST)
 

Important Details:

Submit online application by February 12, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. (Noon)

  • Read all materials very carefully.
  • After following the instructions and providing all necessary information, you will electronically sign and submit your application.
  • If under the age of 18 when you submit the application, your parent or guardian is required to electronically sign the License Agreement Terms and Conditions.   Your parent/guardian will receive an email link to sign the agreement. 
  • You will receive acknowledgment through your Sac State email once you click on the "Submit Application" button.

Your application will then be processed.

  • In 1-2 business days, you will receive a notification email that you may continue with the application process and make your $250 application installment payment.
  • All communication will be sent through your Sac State email. Check for messages on a regular basis.

Submit $250 Application Installment payment by February 12, 2019 at 11:59 PM.

  • Your application complete date will be based on the following factors:
    • The date you submit your application.
    • The date your application installment fee payment is verified.

 Housing Application Timeline 2019-2020

FEBRUARY 4 The Housing Application Process for current residents who wish to return and live on campus again next academic year begins February 4, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Residents who have confirmed applications will have opportunities to select their room space.  Please note housing for all returning residents cannot be guaranteed.  Don't delay in completing application. 
FEBRUARY 12 The Housing Application Period for current residents ends at 12:00 p.m. (Noon), February 12, 2019. The $250 application installment must also be paid by 11:59 p.m. on February 12, 2019.  Current residents may still apply and/or pay application fee after this deadline, but no longer have ability to select their own room.
FEBRUARY 19-JUNE 21 Returning residents are able to search and select roommate groups.
March 25-April 2 Specific details about room selection will be provided to residents before room selection begins.
MAY 1

Roommate Seach Process opens for applications confirmed after February 12.  Room Assignments will be finalized in July. 

JUNE 21

Cancellation Deadline: Students wishing to cancel their application may do so for any reason by June 22, 2019. Applicants need to cancel through the housing application site. A $250 cancellation fee will apply.

If requesting to cancel after the June 21, 2019 deadline, request is subject to approval.  If approved, a $250 cancellation fee will apply, plus applicable prorated rent from the required 30 day notice period.  If not approved, the student will remain obligated to the 2019-2020 Housing and Dining License Agreement.

JUNE 28

Last day to finalize roommate groups.

JULY 12

Finalized assignment information sent to residents.

JULY 18-21

Room swap process occurs. Enables students to swap assigned room spaces with another eligible resident. 

AUGUST 1

Room and Board charges posted to students account based on room style and meal plan choice.

 


WHAT IS FERPA (Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act)?

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, as amended (also sometimes referred to as the Buckley Amendment), is a federal law regarding the privacy of student records and the obligations of the institution, primarily in the areas of release of the records and the access provided to these records. Any educational institution that receives funds under any program administered by the U.S. Secretary of Education is bound by FERPA requirements. Institutions that fail to comply with FERPA may have funds administered by the Secretary of Education withheld.

What does this mean to you? When a student turns 18 years old, or enters a postsecondary institution at any age, the rights under FERPA transfer from the parents to the student. Parents no longer have a right to their students’ records without written permission from the student. (e.g. roommate conflicts, disciplinary hearings/sanctions).

We highly encourage students to be actively involved and understand their responsibilities regarding their housing license agreement (contract) and payment obligations. We also encourage students and parents/ guardians to thoroughly discuss housing information, contract and payment schedule. If questions arise, students are welcome to contact the University Housing Services Office.

Please note that due to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), we are not able to discuss a student’s housing record with anyone other than the student. If students wish to allow Housing personnel to discuss their confidential information as protected under FERPA regulations with another individual such as a parent/guardian, there must be a signed Housing FERPA waiver on file with the University Housing Services Office designating the individual(s) to whom information can be released. Waivers will be valid for that academic year only. New waivers must be filed with the Housing Office for each academic year the student resides on-campus. These waivers can be revoked by the student at any time. Housing FERPA waiver forms are available from the University Housing Services Office.
