Important Move-In Details

moveinimageCongratulations on attending Sac State and being a part of our residential community.  We're excited to have you join us in the residence halls for the 2017-2018 academic year!  The following information and resources will be helpful as you pack and prepare to move into your residence hall.


Residence halls open on Friday, August 25, 2017.  Check-In is from 7:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

If you are living in the residence halls you need to check in at the Anita Harper Alumni Center at your appointment time.  Your appointment time will be emailed to you the first week of August.  If you need to change your appointment time, please follow the steps within the email to request an alternate arrival time or date.

  • On Friday, all residents are required to check-in at the Anita Harper Alumni Center at your appointment time.

Parents Lounge and Reception

The Parents Lounge in Desmond Hall

9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.  We will have coffee, water, doughnuts, and other goodies, including Kleenex!  Stop by to write a letter to your student to be delivered the second week of classes.

The Parents and Families Reception

The Parents and Families program will host a reception from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Riverfront Center:  Join the President's Office Chief of Staff, Chief of Police, Provost, Vice President and Associate Vice Presidents of Student Affairs, Parent Ambassadors, and Housing staff for an information session, giveaways, food and drinks.

Early Arrival Requests

Any resident who needs to arrive early due to extenuating circumstances must complete the online request form. Your request for early move in will be reviewed by staff. Students will go directly to their assigned residence hall in order to check-in.

  • Hornet Weeks of Wow  - You are invited to join us for Hornet Weeks of Welcome (WOW).  This kick-off celebration is a way for you to meet new friends, learn more about the University, and have fun!     • Saturday, August 26 – RHA Mixer – Residence Hall Quad – 9:00 p.m.
    • Sunday, August 27   – RHA Get S’more Friends – Jenkins and Sierra Fire Pits – 7:00 p.m.

Preparing for Move-In

  • Move-In Carts
    Carts will be available near your hall  for check out in order to assist with unloading your vehicle.


TELEVISION SERVICE: We have XFINITY on Campus providing IPTV streaming service offered by Comcast.  Please take a moment and click on the television service link and view our digital cable specifications.  Also, in conjunction with Residence Life Cinema we provide online movies.

INTERNET: Internet Connectivity - Housing offers high-speed wireless Internet connectivity and access to campus network resources.  Information regarding connecting to the internet can be found Click HERE for more information.

TELEPHONE SERVICE:  The University does not provide in-room telephone services.  We recommend purchasing a cellular/wireless phone or selecting a broadband VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) provider to use through your in-room Internet connection.  VOIP is an emerging technology that allows voice communications over a standard landline telephone through the Internet.  For further information on the VOIP technology please visit the Federal Communication Commission's website at
