Bonus Point Activities

Events List
The list of approved camus events can be found here.

Purpose
At various times throughout the semester, there will be events on campus which are on topics relevant to our course of study. These events are listed as events sanctioned by me for you to attend for purposes of earning bonus points toward your final grade. Each submitted report will earn up to 1 point.

The purpose of this activity is to give you the opportunity to earn up to 4 full points toward your final grade. But merely attending the event is not sufficient. You will be required to write a short summary and analysis of what transpired during the event. If it was a lecture, then you will write a summary of the lecturer's argument and your analysis of it, if it was a participatory event, explain your participation and your assessment of the activity, etc. The point is, that mere attendance is not what earns you the bonus point. You earn the bonus point in the time you think about and reflect on the learning opportunity which the event presented and report that to me in your summary and analysis. Your analysis should indicate whether you agreed or disagreed and why, whether you accomplished what the participation was designed to accomplish, whether the speaker has a legitimate point or not and why, etc.

Lower Division (PHIL2) Requirements:
Write a one page summary or the lecture, including as much as possible, the position or opinion the speaker expressed. Give your assessment of the argument/opinon... do you agree, why/why not? If this was a participatory event, please give a one page account of the activity and your contribution to it. What did you learn from it?

Upper Division (PHIL100+) Requirements:
Write a two page analysis of the argument/opinion presented in the lecture. Be sure to indicate as clearly as posible what the argument is, and your assessment of it. If this was a participatory event, please give a two page thorough account of the activity and your controibution to it. What did you learn from it?
