What is Lesson Study?
Lesson Study is a collaborative process that engages teachers in the examination of their practice through designing and refining excellent lessons. Teams formulate an overarching goal and related research question to explore, then jointly plan a "research lesson".
One team member teaches the lesson in a real classroom while the other team members observe. The team then meets, debriefs, and revises the lesson. The revised lesson is then taught to another class, more evidence is gathered, and more revisions.
Ultimately the team produces a report that communicates its process of lesson design and addresses their research question.
