MOVE EAST WITH WEST

In January, 1953, the buildings at the new site were basically ready for occupancy, except for the fact that there was no landscaping and there were no paved sidewalks. A pilgrimage with the catchy title, "Move East With West" was begun and a parade from Sacramento City College to the new campus comprised of a considerable number of vehicles, most of them laden with furniture and bric-a-brac, because, in addition to the facilities that we were using at Sacramento City College, we were also leasing two apartment buildings and college offices were situated in bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchens and the hallways of these buildings. Faculty with bathroom offices were particularly pleased to be moving. Governor Warren and other prominent State Officials accompanied us in the parade and gave us a great sendoff to the new SSC campus.

I occupied my office in Room 118 of the Administration Building on January 31, 1953 - an office location that I was to maintain for some twenty years plus.
