Employment
Colusa County is an agricultural based county, and with around 30% of the 2008 workforce classified as agricultural, the employment/unemployment patterns directly reflect that condition. The number of jobs in all industries had an increase of 0.3% (30 jobs) in 2008. The forecast for 2009, based on actual data through December,2008, is for a 2.3% decline.

Even when you remove the agriculture employment for Colusa County, the seasonal variation remains because of the impact agriculture has on the rest of the employment sectors. Nonfarm Employment growth in Colusa County grew in 2008 with a 1.0% (60 jobs) increase. The forecast for 2009, based on actual data through December,2008, is for a decline of 1.9% (110 jobs).

Unemployment
The annual Unemployment Rate for Colusa County in 2008 by a little over two percentage points to 14.0%, up from the 11.8% rate in 2007. The forecast for 2009, based on actual data through December, 2008, is a even higher 17.5%.

Taxable Sales
Taxable Sales for all Outlets in Colusa County, in 2007, continued to improve with a 1.67% increase over the $291.6 million reached in 2006. The forecast for 2008 (based on actual results through the 4th quarter, 2007) is for a $1.8 million decline (-0.6%)and followed by a $5.2 million (1.8%) increase in 2009.
