Virtual Trips to Japan in AY 2020 - 2021

Thanks to Instructionally Related Activities (IRA) grant, we were able to offer two virtual tips to Japan.

Due to the coronavirus situation, all international trips and study abroad programs have been suspended. This trip gives you a global learning experience from home. This tour is operated by IACE travel.

An island of volcanic origin located at the northern edge of the Kikai Caldera, which is ranked class A for volcanic activity. Constantly erupting, Iojima emits massive amounts of sulfur dioxide. 

3. CHIRAN SAMURAI DISTRICT

Story of Kagoshima's leading Japanese tea brand, Chiran-cha(tea) by a local tea producer.

Final departure point of the Kamikaze. During World War II, the Chiran Airbase served as the final departure point for hundreds of young men of the Tokko-tai special attack group, better known as kamikaze pilots. The Chiran Peace Museum was built in 1975 to memorialize the sacrifice of these young men and to try to understand their motivations.
