Introduction

  • Quick! You are one of the zoo keepers at the Oakland Zoo and many animals have escaped! It is your job to find all the animals missing from the Australia exhibit so that you can put them back safely.

Task

  • You need to read about each of the escaped animals in the zoo to learn their natural habitat. Once you have found all of the animals that belong in the Australian exhibit you will need to choose one to write a report on and illustrate.

Process

·   Learn about each animal to find the ones that belong in the Australia exhibit.

·   Select one of the animals from the Australia exhibit to write a report on.

·   Read more about the animal you chose by using the Internet and books available in the classroom for resources.

·   Write a report about your animal that includes the following information;

Scientific name

Description

Size

Lifespan

Range

Habitat

Behavior

Food

·   Create an illustration of your animal.

·   Share your report, findings, and illustration with the class.
