Breakfast at Tiffany’s

IntroductionTaskProcessEvaluation - Conclusion

Introduction:

Aahh…the smell of bacon and something baking.  You always loved visiting Aunt Tiffany’s house.  BUT…something’s not right this morning.  You open your eyes, and the room is unfamiliar so you run downstairs and there you find a breakfast feast.  A woman who looks like your Aunt Tiffany welcomes you, but she’s dressed like she is in the 50’s .  It’s no longer 2005,  you are now back in the 1950’s

Task:

Confused, but famished, you sit at the table and start contemplating what you should do.  Since you have been unable to figure out how to get back to the year 2005, you decide to make the best of it. Being new in "time", you decide to take advantage of the moment and sought out  to enjoy your breakfast and invite some of the major important people of the time to  get to know them.

 Process:

1.     You will work with your group to figure out who to invite to breakfast. Share your research and bounce ideas off of each other! You want an enjoyable breakfast with you guests.

In order to not seem odd to you guest, you must first find out all you can about time period. Look for things like:

a.     Famous political figures and  historical developments

b.     Famous entertainers, writers

2.      After your research, you and your group will role play  your breakfast. Some things to consider

            a. What to serve? (group must choose an appropriate menu)
            b. Background music? (if so, what kind?)
            c. Attire?
            d. Conversation topics (what is happening at this time?)

3.     Each breakfast will take place in front of the class for the amount of time specified by the teacher. Individuals must stay "in their character" for the duration of the breakfast .  Conversations will be about key issues of the day. The teacher (who was also transported back in time) will be a guest at each party in order to "keep the conversation moving" if necessary.
