California Road Trip

Introduction:  California is an amazing state with more different types of scenery that any other part of the United States.  Your job, is to plan a two week vacation for a family of four. The family consists of a father, mother, a teenage boy, and a five year old girl.

 

 

  

Task: After researching the all the CaliforniaÕs different regions, you will plan the family's vacation. You will research the people, climate, economy, culture, geographic features, language, heritage, and leisure activities. You will incorporate individual interests and desires into the vacation plans so that each member of the family is satisfied. Compromise will be necessary.

Process

1.  You will study and research the area of California you are interested in visiting on your family vacation. You will collect and record data about the climate, culture, geographic features, heritage, and leisure activities.

2. You will develop the "perfect" two week long vacation for his/her role.

3. Roles to be chosen will be:

4. Begin by making a list of everything your character would like to do on a California vacation. Order your list from favorite to least favorite.

5. Create a list of activities for the family to do. Compromise will be necessary. Plan the family's two week schedule.

7. Create your group presentation. For your presentation you may want to use maps or charts. The presentation can be in the form of a skit, slide show, puppet show, or some other form. Your group will make a presentation to the class.

 

  

Evaluation:  You will get a group grade for this project. You will need to complete all tasks to have a completed project. Rubric is as follows:

Conclusion: For this project you will be responsible for a family's vacation. Remember you will need to consider each family member's interest. Everyone wants to have a good time. It is important to use all resources possible and all the creativity you know of to have the most exciting project possible. Have fun.
