Introduction

o  Imagine that you work for an advertising agency. It is your job to try to make an advertisement that will help to sell the book Bunnicula. Get your thinking caps ready! Good luck!

Task

·               You are going to first have to get familiar with the book by answering some questions and finishing some activities. Then you and your editing partner are going to make an advertisement for the book. You will then present it to the big bosses (your classmates) to try to sell the book to them.

 

Process

 

1.  Find your study buddy and start talking about the book.

2.  Complete the quiz on the following website:

3.  Answer the following questions:

o   Harold had delivered a note to the publisher when the story began. Decide if his story of Bunnicula was worth publishing.

o   What other adventures do you think Bunnicula, Harold, and Chester could have? Why do you think that they could have this kind of adventure?

o   Is Bunnicula really a vampire bunny or does Chester think this is true from what he had read? Should a person believe everything that he is told about someone else? Why do you think this?

o   Get a piece of paper and cut it in half vertically. Please make a list on one side of things that could really happen (reality) and on the other side things that couldn’t really happen (fantasy)

4.  Please chose ONE of the following activities:

5.  Now you are ready to make an advertisement for the book Bunnicula. You and your study buddy will be making an advertisement for the book. Please follow these steps:

1.  Make sure you have the title, authors’ names, and illustrators all on the advertisement.

2.  Draw a rough draft of a picture from a part of the story that you think people would find interesting.

3.  Meet with Miss Swesey before you make your final copy.

4.  Draw up your final “proposal”.

5. Now you will present your advertisement to the rest of the class. Please make sure to show your picture during the presentation.

·                 You will be graded on the following things:

1.  Finishing the quiz (10)

2.  Answering the questions (10)

3.  Choosing and finishing one of the activities (10)

4.  Your finished advertisement (40)

5.  Your presentation (30)
