The Problem (Introduction)

When everyone woke up this morning and turned on their TV sets something terrible had happened, the weatherman was missing! Where could he be? Who would give the weather? Was it safe to go outside? How would children know what to wear to school?

The Mission (Task)

Your mission is to take the weatherman’s place until he returns. A weatherman needs to know as much as he can about the different types of weather so he can tell people what it is like and what they should do or wear. So you must research about the different types of weather to take his place and you will need to write a weather report which you can give to the class.

Job Description (Process)

Ø Look at the different types of weather below and visit the websites to learn more about the types of weather.

Ø Choose the type of weather you want to write a report on, it does not have to be what the weather is today.

Ø Write down at least three important facts about your type of weather.

Ø Draw and color a picture of the type of weather you have chosen as well as what type of clothing a person might wear if that weather was happening outside.

Ø Write your weather report. What is the weather like today? What should people expect outside? What should children wear to school?

Ø View a weather report and then practice reading your report so you will be able to give your report to the class and show your picture.

Forecast Delivery

I did not want to give the forecast and had to have the teacher ask me questions before I would say anything. I did not look at my audience at all.

I gave the forecast but forgot to tell about everything in my drawing and I did not look at my audience all the time.
