The Disneyland Resort in Anaheim encompasses two theme parks, three Disney-run hotels and Downtown Disney, a district of restaurants, nightspots and stores. From John Wayne (Orange County) Airport, it's about a 40-minute drive.

Airport transportation: Several companies provide shuttle service from the airport to Disneyland and area hotels. Airport Bus charges $11 one-way, $18 round-trip for adults and $8/$13 for ages 3-10. Younger children ride free. Information: www.airportbus.com or (800) 938-8933.

In the resort area, transportation is available on trolleys operated by Anaheim Resort Transit. The trolleys run nine interchangeable routes every 10 minutes during peak times from hotels and the convention center. A one-day pass is $3. Information: www.rideart.org or (714) 563-5287.

Disney theme park admission: Single-day admission to Disneyland or Disney's California Adventure is $53 general, $43 for ages 3-9. A "park hopper" ticket good for admission to both parks on the same day is $73/$63, while a two-day park-hopper is $106/$86. Several other multiday options are available. Tickets may be purchased at the gate or online.

Resort parking: $10 for cars and motorcycles, $12 for RVs and other oversized vehicles. Free shuttle service is available from many hotels in the area.

Hours: Vary according to season; 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. is standard. Check the Web site or call before you go.

Disney Resort information: disneyland.disney.go.com or (714) 781-7290.

Lodging: Scores of hotels, from luxury to budget, cover the blocks surrounding Disneyland. Many tour operators and Web sites offer packages that combine airfare, lodging and rental car. (We've had especially good luck with Hotwire.com.)

Visitor information: The Anaheim Convention and Visitors Bureau site at www.anaheimoc.org has extensive information on lodging and attractions in the area. It publishes a visitors guide that can be ordered online or by calling (714) 533-3691. Or visit the Anaheim Resort Tourist Information Center at 1500 South Harbor Blvd.
