FAQ for FRENCH 7 (SUTER)  

Is this an easy course? NO. You will work hard in this course, in order to pass it.
What does Web-enhanced mean? You attend on campus AND online.
How many times a week do we meet on campus? Once a week, on Tuesdays 12-12:50pm (Fall & Spring); check the schedule for Summer but it is once a week also.
When do I do the online homework? You do the online homework after you have read the assigned pages in the book. You do your online homework on any day(s) and at any time(s), prior to the next class meeting, by the due date and time listed, usually by 9am on Tuesday mornings. Other than the due date, the times are flexible and convenient to you.
Do I have to come to campus? YES. You must come for the in-class midterms (every 4 weeks). It is highly recommended that you also come to the weekly lectures.
Do I need a computer? YES. You can use campus lab computers. If you have a good Internet connection from home, you can use that.
How do I log into the class? You MUST have a Saclink account by the first day of class. This is a campus computer/campus access account, FREE to CSUS students. Go to any campus lab to self-register for yours.
Can anyone log on to the course? NO, it is password protected and only enrolled students have access.
How do I enroll? Regular Casper procedures. Check class schedule for the course #.
What are the pre-requisites? 2-3 high school years French and/or 1-2 college semesters French.
Does this meet CSUS' graduation requirement? YES, with a grade of C- or better.
Is the book required? YES.
How is homework done? The Web site has explanations, exercises, drills, games, flashcards, slide shows, and practice readings, in the form of multiple choice, open-ended, and drag&drop exercises. All homework exercises are electronic (online), plus you need to read the book.
How is the homework graded? ALL exercises are automatically graded, and automatically placed in the online Gradebook (each student can see their own Gradebook entries). ALL exercises can be repeated for a higher homework score, an unlimited number of times.
Do I have to do the homework? YES. Failure to do the homework will result in a failing grade. Students will be failed by the fourth week, if they do not participate electronically (online).
Can I do the online homework from anywhere in the world? YES, via the Internet.
Is late online homework accepted without penalty? NO. Online homework has a due date weekly. Points will be deducted for late homework.
How to I get in touch with the instructor?

The WebCT Site has Private e-mail and Group mail for the class. The instructor checks WebCT several times a day, but not on weekends. Voice mail telephone, mailing address and regular e-mail address are on the syllabus.
