Like my classmates, I am hoping that this is my last
semester at CSUS so I can receive my B.A. in English. These last
couple years as an English major have been an interesting experience. If
someone had asked me a few years back about what I would major in, English
would have been near the bottom of my list. After a long search,
English became a pleasing and fulfilling major.
I am currently co-captain of the Sacramento
State Water Polo Club which a few students, included myself, decided to
start-up this year. After only five weeks of training, because of
the late start, we ended up beating the #6 (U. of Washington) and the #8
(U. of Oregon) nationally ranked club teams in the nation. I also
assistant coach swimming and water polo at Jesuit High School, a local
private school with an outstanding reputation for sports and academics.
I would have to say that swimming and water
polo are my true loves. I enjoy numerous other sports such as basketball,
racquetball, and soccer (indoor and outdoor). I am computer literate
and would actually consider my computer a hobby of mine, when I have time.
I have also studied the dark side of computing: the world of hacking.
It is frightening what a teenager can do with an old laptop, a modem, and
a public telephone.
I forgot the most important detail -- my love
of science fiction. I love all types of sci-fi. From "Star
Wars" and "Star Trek" to the B movies like "Battle
Beyond the Stars." I was a fan of X-Files by the pilot episode,
before everyone and their mother decided to hop on the bandwagon a few
seasons later. I do admit that there are some recent sci-fi movies
that I can't stand but, for the most part, I love it all.
