Sternberg Search - due Thursday Feb 23

Due at the beginning of class, and all answers must be typed. (If you need to draw a graph in part 2, that can be done by hand).

1. Print out your individual data graph.

2. First, describe the classic results of Sternberg's experiment. Based on set size, indicate if you data is consistent or inconsistent with Sternberg's findings (and say why). If your data is very different from the classic results, draw a basic graph that would show the gist of the pattern of the classic results.

3. If the search were done in parallel (all at the same time) and not serially (one at a time) as Sternberg concluded, how would the "present" and "absent" lines on the classic graph be effected?

4. If the search was terminating (stop when found the probe) and not exhaustive (go through every item), how would the "present" and "absent" lines on the classic graph be effected?
