One of the most serious cyber-security risks facing the campus today comes from phishing email messages.

Cofense PhishMe is an awareness training program intended to help our campus community recognize and delete email phishing messages.

We will periodically send Cofense PhishMe training emails to your Sac State account that mimic the phishing emails that typically target our Hornet Family. These test emails provide valuable hands-on experience and follow-up educational materials to help improve your ‘phish finding’ abilities, and are intended to help faculty, staff and students protect their privacy and confidentiality.

  • More than 800 Sacramento State email accounts were compromised in a recent phishing attack.
  • 92% of all cyber breaches start with a successful phishing email.
  • The goal is to reduce the number of compromised accounts as well as promote cyber security awareness to the campus community.
  • If you suspect an email is an actual phish and/or part of the PhishMe Training, do not click on any links included in the message, safely forward it to, and then delete it.
