Piano Fair to feature concerts, lectures and more

California State University, Sacramento and the Piano Technicians Guild will present a three-day piano fair, concert and lectures series from Friday, Feb. 11 through Sunday, Feb. 13. The public is invited to attend this free series, held in the University Union from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

On display at the fair will be an exhibit of some of the world's finest pianos from Europe, North America and Asia. There will also be presentations of new and unusual pianos, including a 97 note one-octave microtonal piano from Germany.

The concert series features renowned artists from around the globe performing classical and jazz pieces on the pianos exhibited at the fair. Featured artists include Sally Christian, Jim Martinez, Richard Glazier and others. Concerts will take place in the Hinde Auditorium at various times throughout the series, and there will be a performance by The Delbert Bump Quartet at 8 p.m. on Saturday in the Recital Hall of Capistrano Hall.

The lectures series will cover a variety of topics, including "Life Choices for Your Piano," "Buying or Selling a Used Piano," and "Piano Technology as a Career." University faculty and administrators are encouraged to attend a special Music Educators Symposium on the piano and its role at a college or university.

Registration information and a complete schedule of concerts and lectures may be found at or by calling (916) 278-6558. Media assistance is available by contacting the University's public affairs office at (916) 278-6156.
