Classic piano fills the halls at CSUS

Guest pianist Frank Weins brings to life the music of Beethoven, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, Schubert and Robert Schumann at 7:30 p.m., Sunday Feb. 24 at California State University, Sacramento. The event is in the music recital hall in Capistrano Hall.

Wiens debuted at Carnegie Hall in 1984 and in London in 1986. He has toured the Soviet Union, South Korea and currently tours throughout the United States.

Wiens received both his bachelor's and master's degrees in music from the University of Michigan, where he received the Stanley Medal - the university's highest award for musical excellence. He taught at Drake University and is currently a piano professor at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, where he received the Distinguished Faculty Award in 1997 and the Faculty Research-Lecturer Award in 2000.
