CSUS to honor year's top graduates

California State University, Sacramento will honor its top graduates at the annual Honors Convocation, 3 p.m., Sunday, May 5 in the University Union Ballroom.

Academic Achievement Awards will be presented to 42 students, all selected by their departments for academic excellence, leadership and contributions to campus life. The seven recipients of the Outstanding Senior Award from each of the University's Colleges also will be announced.

The event will include entertainment by the CSUS Symphonic Wind Ensemble and a reception for honorees and their guests.

In all, 895 CSUS students will graduate with honors of some type during the 2001-02 academic year. More than 5,000 students overall will graduate, with about 2,000 eligible to take part in commencement ceremonies held last fall and about 3,000 eligible to participate in the upcoming spring commencement ceremonies, on campus May 24-25.
