The second-ever President’s Medallion was awarded to Faythe Vollrath during commencement ceremonies at Sacramento State over the weekend. More than 4,300 students were eligible to cross the stage during seven ceremonies held at Hornet Stadium and the Outdoor Theatre.

During the College of Arts and Letters ceremony on Friday, President Alexander Gonzalez awarded the President’s Medallion to Vollrath, an accomplished harpsichordist. She achieved a 4.0 GPA at Sacramento State while also serving as choir director for a local church, volunteer judge for high school debate tournaments and a student teacher for the University’s piano pedagogy program. She received a Scholastic All American Debater Award for academic excellence and service to her community. Vollrath graduated with a degree in piano performance with a minor in Latin.

Earlier in the month Vollrath was one of seven students to receive a Dean’s Award. The annual awards are given to one student from each college for academic achievement and contributions to their communities.
