Geology Club rocks on with annual auction

Geology Club auctionMinerals and other collectables that are a cut above the rest will available to the highest bidder at the Sacramento State Geology Club’s third annual Rock Auction on Friday, Nov. 17 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Alumni Center.

The students received donations of rocks, mineral and fossil samples from collectors and dealers throughout Northern California. “One of our more exceptional pieces up for auction is a polished geode, nine inches in diameter,” says Professor Dave Evans, chair of the Geology Department. “Other donations include pieces of polished, petrified wood and a map of all the mountain ranges over the world done two years before Mount Whitney was discovered. It’s in great condition.”
