For more than 3,500 Sacramento State students, the long journey in academic achievement came to a close during winter commencement ceremonies Dec. 20-22.

Ceremonies for 3,604 undergraduate and graduate students eligible for graduation were held on campus and at Arco Arena.

President Alexander Gonzalez, in his message to the graduating students, said, “I know it hasn’t been easy. You’ve had struggles as well as successes along the way…but you kept at it, and now here you are receiving your degree.

“It’s a tremendous achievement, one that will benefit you for your entire life.”

Also in attendance at various commencements were California State University Trustees A. Robert Linscheid, Craig R. Smith and Carol Chandler, as well as State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O’Connell.

The University is featuring one student from each of its seven Colleges in a slideshow presentation, as well as a slideshow featuring images from the commencement ceremonies. To view the slideshows, visit
