Legislative Hearing on Child Care

The Institute for Research on Women and Families will co-sponsor a legislative hearing on child care from 9 a.m. to noon, Jan. 20, 1999 at the State Capitol room 4202.

The hearing will feature leading researchers and advocates, who will make recommendations for improving California's child care system. In addition, the Institute will hand out a basic briefing paper on the child care system, a statistical overview of working families in California, a summary of child care legislation for the last legislative session, a list of "stakeholders" in the child care community and a "Legislator's Check List to Understand Child Care. These were produced with funding from the Commission on the Status of Women.

The hearing is co-sponsored by the California Commission on the Status of Women, the Senate Education Committee chaired by Senator Dede Alpert (D-San Diego) and the Assembly Human Services Committee chaired by Assemblywoman Dion Aroner (D-Berkeley).
