Explore Abstract Impressionism at the
Foad Satterfield Exhibition
Foad Satterfield paintings explode with color, light and texture in an upcoming solo exhibition at the Robert Else Gallery at California State University, Sacramento from Oct. 30 through Dec. 8.
"Satterfield demonstrates the infinite possibilities of combining and reconfiguring, often from natural sources, the essence of sensations of color, light and reflections," said Allan Gordon, CSUS emeritus professor of art.
Utilizing brush, knife, pencil, ink, paper, wood and canvas, Satterfield creates abstract impression paintings that he hopes will create a "dialogue" with his audience.
"I see my paintings as a vehicle or story which allow the viewer to establish an intimate relationship with the work," Satterfield said.
Satterfield received his master's degree in painting from Louisiana State University. For more than 27 years he has exhibited his work in California, Washington, Louisiana, France and Holland. Since 1980, Satterfield has been an art professor and curator at Dominican College in San Rafael.
A free artist's reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Nov. 1 at the gallery.
The gallery is open Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m. and by appointment. More information is available by contacting the art department at (916) 278-6166.
