Western Women Featured During CSUS Library Week

The California State University, Sacramento Library will celebrate National Library Week April 12-16 with events and programs featuring "The Western Woman C Past and Present."

On April 12 at 2 p.m. Susan Beelick, CSUS art librarian, will present "Western Women Artists: The Three Marys," a lecture and slide show featuring the works of artist Mary Elizabeth Achey, author Mary Hallock Foote, and architect Mary Colter. On April 13 at 2 p.m. Kay Muther, head of the CSUS reference department, will present the lecture "The Western Woman as Businessperson, Politician and Philanthropist."

On April 14 at 2 p.m., Mary Mackey, CSUS professor of English, will read from her original poetry. Her works have been translated into 11 languages, including Hebrew and Finnish.

Dianne Day, author of the Fremont Jones novels, will discuss writing and her novels at 4 p.m. April 15. This is the third in a series of visiting authors sponsored by the CSUS Friends of the Library.

All of the lectures will take place in the Library South Reading Room.

"Historical Women of the West," an exhibit including Sacramento women, will be on display on the Library second floor to April 17.
