CSUS to Host Elena Featherston Discussing
'Violence Against Women'

The Women's Resource Center at California State University, Sacramento will sponsor a program entitled "Violence Against Women: A Discussion with Elena Featherston" on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. in the University Union Hinde Auditorium.

The lecture will focus on violence against women as a human rights issue and will address topics of rape, sexual assault, and domestic violence. Featherston will discuss ethnicity and color as they relate to violence, and methods to help women reclaim their power in relationships.

Featherston is a lecturer, workshop leader, writer, critic and filmmaker. Her writings have appeared in numerous magazines and journals. She wrote the book Skin Deep: Women Writing on Color, Culture and Identity, and she directed and produced the award-winning documentary "Alice Walker: Visions of the Spirit."

Featherston is an adjunct psychology and literature professor at New College of San Fransisco.
