Thesis/Project Formatting Requirements

The style and formatting requirements for theses and projects within the Department of Psychology at California State University, Sacramento generally follow the most recent edition of the guidelines set forth by the American Psychological Association (APA). Specifically, the APA manual relates to the organization and writing of the text. There are also some other requirements established by the Sacramento State Office of Graduate Studies. These requirements relate primarily to formatting of the title, approval, format approval, abstract, and preface/dedication/acknowledgement pages, as well as the table of contents. Please read these two sources before you begin writing, as they are comprehensive. The purpose of this manual is to provide students with a cohesive summary guide with which to prepare the written presentation of their culminating work in satisfaction of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts in Psychology.

To insure a prompt format review, theses are due to the Graduate Coordinator two weeks before the University deadline.  Any theses received after that date, will be reviewed on a first come first serve basis, which might result in a late University submission.
