Green & Gold Gala highlights Sac State success

Broadway and screen legend Carol Channing highlighted the importance of arts education at Sacramento State's previous Green & Gold Gala.

Sacramento State will look to the past, celebrate the present and point to the future during its fifth Green & Gold Gala 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, in the University Union Ballroom.

This year’s gala is the culminating event in the University’s year-long celebration of Destination 2010, an initiative begun seven years ago by President Alexander Gonzalez to transform the Sacramento State into a premier metropolitan campus. The event will highlight many of the changes that have occurred on campus during that time and reveal plans for Sacramento State’s future.

“The Green & Gold Gala gives us the opportunity to celebrate the outstanding success in reaching our Destination 2010 goals,” Gonzalez says. “It is also an opportunity to acknowledge the many people who have contributed to the changes at Sacramento State, as well as the great work of the campus community.”

Tickets for the gala are $200 per person. Sacramento State faculty and staff tickets are available for $150. Part of the proceeds from the Gala will support student scholarships.

Event costs are covered through sponsorship contributions. Wells Fargo is the featured sponsor and other confirmed sponsors include Vision Service Plan, Casque Wines, ZD Wines, Cosentino Winery, Charles Krug Winery, Steltzner Vineyards and Crystal Basin Cellars. Sponsorship opportunities are still available.

The event includes a reception, dinner and dancing. Music will be provided by area band Clean Slate. Emcees are KXTV News 10’s Cristina Mendonsa and KCRA 3 political reporter Kevin Riggs.
