Sac State Choirs get ethereal for concert

“Music for All Souls” will be performed by Sacramento State’s Choirs when they open their fall concert season at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Sacred Heart Church, 39th and J streets.

Under the leadership of conductor Donald Kendrick, the Sac State Chamber Choir, Concert Choir and University Chorus will present a program that features a performance of “Requiem” by Gabriel Fauré with organist Ryan Enright, and conductors Tim Mascarinas and Lyndsay Barham. Fauré’s ethereal masterpiece is one of the most popular choral works from the late 19th century.

The University Chorus also will perform works by Eric Whitacre, J.S. Bach and René Clausen, and the Chamber Choir will include music by Edwin Fissinger and Moses Hogan.

Suggested donations are $10 general, $7 for seniors and $5 for students. Advance tickets are recommended and can be purchased at the University Ticket Office, (916) 278-4323,
