Matthew Matthews, "The Trans-Pacific Partnership & U.S. Relations with East Asia and the Pacific"

The College of SSIS and the Asian Studies Program are proud to sponsor a lecture by Matthew Matthews, Deputy Assistant Secretary for East Asia and Pacific Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, entitled "The Trans-Pacific Partnership and U.S. Relations with East Asia and the Pacific." Mr. Matthews will be in Sacramento on March 28-30 for outreach activities promoting the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a 21st century trade agreement involving the United States and 11 other countries. His travel is part of the White House's effort to speak with business organizations, universities, and other civic and community groups.

Water and Fire: Impacts of Climate Change April 10-11, 2016

On April 10-11, 2016, The Institute on Science for Global Policy (ISGP) and Sacramento State are hosting a conference on campus - Water and Fire: Impacts of Climate Change. We are bringing together recognized experts, faculty, students and community members from the spectrum of scientific and policy views, and facilitating debates and caucus sessions to build consensus around actionable next steps that will help our state adapt to climate change. We will publish a book that includes conference conclusions and recommendations for position papers. Dr. Peter Gleick, "The Future of Water in a Changing Climate"

The inaugural lecture in the College of SSIS Al Qazzaz Dean’s Lecture Series will feature Dr. Peter Gleick, speaking on “The Future of Water in a Changing Climate.” Dr. Peter Gleick is internationally known as a leading expert, innovator, and communicator on water and climate issues. He co-founded and leads the Pacific Institute based in Oakland, CA. The Institute is an innovative and independent science-based organization that creates and advances solutions to the world’s water challenges. The lecture will be held on Monday, September 28th from 1:00 – 3:00pm in the Alumni Center. A reception with light refreshments will follow.
