STRONG 2016: Developing Hornets' Hearts & Minds is a 2-day event where students present ideas about how to improve their lives, their community, or their career field to regional employers like Raley's, Intel, Sacramento City Unified School District, Schweizter Engineering Lab, the Intertribal Council of California, and more. Participating students will be eligible for a $1,000 award. Family members, friends, peers, and the community are invited to hear how students will apply what they are learning to improve their lives and community. The Academic Showcase will take place Friday, April 29 from 9 am - 12 pm. 

Saturday, students, guests, and community members are invited to participate in interactive, wellness-themed workshops and activities, then listen to Sacramento-native World Champion professional mixed martial artist and star of the TV show  The Ultimate Fighter Urijah Faber a.k.a. "the California Kid" talk about what it takes to be a pro and get the life you want, despite obstacles. Scholarship winners will be announced on Saturday, April 30. A menu of 1-hour workshops will be offered from 10 a.m. - 12 noon; Faber will talk at 12. 

This event is free and open to the public. It will take place in the University Union. Parking will be free.
