Faculty & Staff Resources

SSWD serves as a resource to faculty and staff on student disability-related issues. Faculty/staff wishing to make referrals or having questions should contact SSWD via telephone (916) 278-6955 (Voice Only) or e-mail.

Email Us

We encourage you to use the following syllabi statement in your syllabi. By doing so, you accomplish the following:

  • You have provided your students the appropriate referral, should an academic course adjustment or modification be needed
  • You help protect Sac State by putting the student on notice that accommodations are not retroactive nor are they provided without having gone through the SSWD eligibility process
  • It relieves you of the need to be trying to figure out how to accommodate a student, as that is SSWD’s role

Sample Syllabi Statement

“Sacramento State is committed to ensuring an accessible learning environment where course or instructional content are usable by all students and faculty. If you believe that you require disability-related academic adjustments for this class (including pregnancy-related disabilities), please immediately contact Services for Students with Disabilities (SSWD) to discuss eligibility. A current accommodation letter from SSWD is required before any modifications, above and beyond what is otherwise available for all other students in this class will be provided. Please be advised that disability-related academic adjustments are not retroactive. SSWD is located on the first floor of Lassen Hall 1008. Phone is 916-278-6955 and e-mail is sswd@csus.edu.
