Reinstatement

Sacramento State is an impacted campus. Having the impacted status means that there are more qualified applicants than there is space available to accommodate. As a result, we must be restrictive on who can be reinstated each semester. When we do open the reinstatement process, students who are able to graduate within one to two semesters will be the priority; others will be considered on a space available basis.

All returning students seeking to return after disqualification or dismissal must meet the following criteria:

  • Junior standing (at least 60 units)
  • Admission requirements of A1 (Oral Communication), A2 (Written Communication), A3 (Critical Thinking) and B4 (Quantitative Reasoning) completed with C- grades or higher
  • All lower division major requirements/prerequisites completed with passing grades
  • All lower division General Education requirements completed (Areas A through E)
  • Requirements for Fall reinstatement must be completed by the prior Spring (e.g. Spring 2019 for Fall 2019 consideration)
  • Requirements for Spring readmission after dismissal must be completed by the prior Summer (Summer 2019 for Spring 2020 consideration)
  • Students will not be reinstated to impacted majors (Biological Sciences; Business; Criminal Justice; Graphic Design; Health Science; Nursing; & Psychology)

Reinstatement Instructions

Your statement for reinstatement must address the following:

  3. State the reason for choosing your proposed major (cannot choose Undeclared unless seeking an impacted major)

Students seeking to return as an Impacted major (Biology, Business, Criminal Justice, Graphic Design, Health Science, Nursing, Photography or Psychology) will be considered as Undeclared. Once reinstated, students can meet with their intended major department for options.
