About Transfer Students

Transfer Student Advising

Academic Advisors in the Academic Advising Center provide students with the help they need to complete their GE requirements.

Advising sessions cover a wide range of topics, including meeting General Education and university-wide graduation requirements, academic policies, connecting to campus resources, future goals, and strategies for success.

Associate Degree for Transfer

Transfer students who earned an Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) and enroll at Sac State in a major that is deemed similar to their ADT major, are eligible to earn their bachelor’s degree in 60 semester units.

Academic departments may have a separate advisor for ADT students, so please check with your major department for more information.

Strategies & Resources

There are a variety of tools and strategies for transfer students to monitor their progress.

  • Be sure to check your Transfer Credit Report in your KEYS to Degree Toolbox in your Student Center.
  • Use Smart Planner to plan ahead to meet remaining GE and major requirements.
  • Bring unofficial transcripts to your major department for review. A major advisor will be able to tell you which courses from your transfer school meet requirements in the major or you may also use Assist.org.
